Charity Quilt Projects

Halton Quilters' Guild members of Burlington, Ontario have made three charity quilts this past year. The Heart Strings quilt was designed by Cindy Cooksey and was raffled with all proceeds going to help with programs at Woodview Manor in Hamilton, Ontario. Woodview Manor has an Independent Living Program serving the needs of individuals with Autism and Asperger's Syndrome. The aim of the program is to assist individuals in areas of social skills, vocational skills and life skills in order to prepare for independent living in the community. We were pleased to be able to donate $8425.00 to Woodview Manor as a result of tickets sales for this quilt. The big winner of the quilt was Pat Dewar of Oakville, Ontario.

The Neighbours and Friends quilt was designed by Rosemary Makhan and was raffled to help purchase a wheel chair van for Community Living Burlington. Community Living Burlington is a non-profit charitable organization which provides support to people who have a developmental disability. They provide support to approximately 350 individuals and their families. Ticket sales from this quilt enabled us to donate $4669.00 to Community Living. The winner of the quilt was Chrys Ballantyne of Burlington.

The Star of Hope quilt was donated to The Quilt which is a breast cancer support project. This quilt was auctioned along with many other quilts and all monies raised will be used to provide support for breast cancer survivors and their families through outreach programs across Canada. This quilt sold for $1200.00.
