New Nature's Garden Patterns

This summer I worked on designing and sewing together nine blocks for a larger Nature's Garden quilt. I thought you would like to see how these blocks look when they are stitched together.

Soon I will start to work on designing the appliqué borders which will feature an undulating vine of wild flowers, leaves, insects and butterflies.

The finished quilt will 86" x 86" which will look wonderful on a queen sized bed with pillow shams and a dust ruffle. The quilt would also be stunning as a large wall hanging.

This quilt as planned will require at least 6.2 meters or 7 yards of tone-on-tone ecru background fabric. An extra .7 meters or 3/4 yards will be needed for the binding. The binding can be the same as the background or it can be contrasting, if you prefer.

For the appliqué fabrics I used mostly unevenly shaded purchased fabrics or hand dyes to give more dimension and depth to the flowers and birds.

Fabric Kit

I have some kits available for the Road to Paradise 30 block quilt variation (size: 75" x 87") that is shown in the More Biblical Quilt Blocks book on page 77. The 20 block variation of this quilt is also featured on page 43 in the Creative Quilt Collection Volume One from That Patchwork Place. These kits include all the fabrcis for the quilt top and regularly retail for $155.00 (includes 10.5 yards or 9.7 meters of fabric); they are now on sale for $140.00 while supplies last.

Please send an Email: info@quiltsbyrosemary.com if you would like to inquire about purchasing one of these kits.

Wanted: Stories and Photos about Healing Quilts

Quilters have often made special quilts to help work through a tradegy or crisis. If you have made such a quilt and would like to share your story I would like to hear from you. If there is enough interest, I would like to prepare a lecture on this subject with the hope of inspiring and encouraging quilters who may need help during a difficult time.

Book Review

More Biblical Quilt Blocks book received an excellent review by Sophie Littlefield on QuiltersReview.com Sophie says that she enjoyed browsing the blocks and reacquainting herself with their ancient stories. "The blocks stand beautifully on their own, ranging from relative simplicity to intricate, multi-layers designs."

Acts of Kindnness award

Recently I was featured in the Snap Burlington newspaper for receiving a plaque in recognition of my supportive role as a Goodwill Ambassador for the Acts of Kindness Network . This network is based on the priciple of "paying it forward" as exemplified in the movie. The local chapter was founded by Deborah Seigel and provides ongoing support to the mental health community in the Halton region. To learn more about this nework visit: Acts of Kindness
