Paper Pieced Mariner’s Compass
Learn how to sew this beautiful design accurately and easily on the machine, create needle sharp points using freezer paper piecing techniques.
Creative use of fabric will be demonstrated and encouraged. Many pattern variations are possible. Optional: Pattern for full size quilt available for purchasing.
Some previous piecing experience needed. One or two days or more.
Double Wedding Ring
Learn easy cutting and sewing methods for assembling this beautiful old favourite pattern. Directions will be given for a one piece arc and for the traditional pieced arc done by paper piecing. Quilting suggestions and how to finish the curved edges with bias binding will be demonstrated. You can make a wall hanging or table topper, twin, double or queen sized quilt. Some previous piecing experience needed. One or two days.
Hand Piecing
Master and enjoy the relaxing, portable and accurate hand piecing method of quilt block construction. We will learn tips and techniques to perfect our skills while making a quilt block from my antique quilt collection. All levels. One day.
Heart Warming Log Cabin Raggedy Quilt
This easy, fun raggedy quilt is a great way to use of some of your fabric stash. The quilt is reversible as the front and back are pieced and quilted at the same time. The frayed edges of the quilt make it cosy, soft and comfortable.
Homeward Bound
This old favourite quilt pattern has three easy units. These units are common to many pieced patterns and once mastered “the world is your oyster” so to speak in the realm of patchwork patterns Many tips for improving your sewing accuracy and pressing techniques will be covered. The quilt looks great scrappy or done all in coordinating newly purchased fabrics.
Feathered Star
Make an elegant feathered star block by using rotary cutting and accurate piecing techniques. Showcase a wonderful focal print for your star. Some previous piecing experience needed. Pattern required. One or two days.
Road to Paradise
This wonderful pattern creates the illusion of curves but is constructed by sewing just straight seams. Showcase some beautiful floral fabrics to make your quilt resemble a garden in paradise. Pattern included. Kit available. All levels. Easy. One day.
Free Motion Machine Quilting--Beyond the Basics
We will explore machine quilting techniques and tools such as types of thread, battings, marking pencils, special tools and attachments to improve your machine quilting skills. Practice techniques such as easy continuous designs, stippling, many kinds of background quilting and free form feathers. All levels. One day.
Shadow Colour Trapunto Machine Quilting
Add a “wow” factor to your machine quilted quilts with the addition of an updated easier and quicker method for shadow colour trapunto. We will also learn tips and techniques for feather quilting, micro stippling and McTavishing background quilting. Some previous free motion quilting experience is helpful to achieve good results. One day.
Mystery Classes
Enjoy the challenge and fun of a good mystery as we create a scrappy, feel good quilt. A great way to clean out your scrap basket. Choose from one of the following:

Other information
Workshops have been planned for a full day or 6 hours. When flexible hours are indicated the longer workshop will include more techniques, more pattern variations and more help with your hands-on stitching. Whenever possible, the workshops will be customized to fit the needs and interests of your group. Some workshops can be expanded to accommodate a retreat situation and some can be reduced to a demonstration or half day format when required. A variety of mystery classes are available.
